on: December 13, 2017, 06:24:41 AM

Two women were on Tuesday died in their shop after inhaling generator fume at Oredo area in Edo state.

Reports suggest that one of the victims, who is a fashion designer and the owner of the shop, Uju Muobuikwu, had invited the other victim to help her at the shop on Second East Circular Road in Benin City.

The shop owner was said to have powered on the generator so she could finish a dress she was sewing overnight.

Her brother, identified as Chukwudi, then got a call in the afternoon that his sister was not fine.

“I got a call from my sister at about 2pm. She said her friend was not feeling fine. I told her to give her anointing oil,” he said.

Minutes later, I put a call to her mobile phone to know the situation of things, but she did not pick my call. So, I came here this morning and we invited the police to force the door open.”

The police confirmed the incident and said that they were killed  by the generator fume.

They died after inhaling generator fumes. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims inhaled toxic fumes from the generator,” the Commissioner of Police in the state, Johnson KokumoKokumo, said.
