In the wake of serving 20 years for the wrongdoing of basically being in an unlucky spot, 38-year-old Chris (Jay Duplass) is allowed early parole on account of the eager promotion of Carol (Edie Falco), his previous secondary teacher. As he battles with the difficulties of exploring the cutting edge world as an ex-con, and with a laden association with his sibling Ted (Ben Schwartz), Chris winds up admitting his sentimental love for Carol — an adoration that, given her conjugal status, Carol can't respond. Or on the other hand can she? Ditty aches for something her significant other never again gives. In the mean time, Carol's little girl Hildy (Kaitlyn Dever) becomes friends with Chris, finding a related soul in this ungainly, tormented more seasoned person.
