The minister of health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, has stated that the Monkey Pox disease which has been reported in various parts of the country, is only a ‘suspicion’ at the moment. According to the minister, the disease can only be confirmed after laboratory tests have been conducted. Samples from patients have been sent to the World Health Organisation center in Senegal and test results are expected within 48 hours Prof. Isaac Adewole, Minister of Health has described the Monkey Pox disease which has been reported in various parts of the country, as only a ‘suspicion’ at the moment. According to reports, the minister made his comments in a chat with newsmen at the end of the Federal Executive Council meeting at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja. The minister further disclosed that states did not report the outbreak of the disease on time, but urged Nigerians not to panic. Dr. Jide Idris, the Lagos state commissioner for health, said that two suspected cases of Monkey Pox had been recorded in the state. Idris speaking at a news conference said that the two suspected cases were currently under observation in health facilities in the state.
