The curfew, which is indefinite, is to run from 6pm to 6am. It came less than 24 hours after the dismantling of military checkpoints as ordered by President Muhammadu Buhari. The decision came after the residents protested the killing of two women by operatives of the Special Task Force in Heipang area of Barkin Ladi. The decision was also necessitated by the brutal murder of four persons in Gwarang Sop in Hawan Kibo area of Riyom. In a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Rufus Bature, the government said the action was to forestall any outbreak of violence. He advised residents of the areas to go about their duties without any fear while assuring them that security agencies were up to the task of protecting their lives and property.
