The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Resident Electoral Commissioner for Osun State, Dr Mutiu Agboke has said the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS is still part of the innovations bringing sanity into the electoral process in the country.

Dr Agboke also maintained that BVAS is still the game changer when it comes to elections in the country.

The Osun INEC REC made this known during a courtesy visit by members of the Osun Online Publishers Association to the INEC state office on Thursday.

According to him, “We all know that BVAS is still giving us sanity in our electoral process. We are still going to work on the beliefs and perceptions of the people on the BVAS INEC will develop and improve before every election.

“We will not rest on our oars. We will continue to do the engagement because it is very important.”

Agboke said vote buying and election violence were still common problems encountered during the electioneering process.

He said, “Vote buying is still a terrible cankerworm. Stakeholders are not facing the reality of electioneering violence and allowing it to go.

“There is a need for us to continue to engage the public and this is done for them to understand before they can stop collecting money from those who are giving them. We need to talk to their conscience.”

He also used the opportunity to outline his plans before the commencement of electioneering in Osun State.

“Again, voter education is a continuous exercise. We are going to start in a short while to go to media houses in the state.

“People must be told certain things that have enveloped our electioneering process that we should not allow to happen.

“We are going to engage the political parties. We are going to visit the political parties from May 15. Meet their executives and talk to ourselves.

“I want to liberalise the process of engagement and make people see that we can talk about these things. Do they talk to their members and do voter education at their ward meetings, congresses and political rallies?

We need to assure them that our guidelines formulated based on what we have designed will be followed to the letter, our technology, how they are going to work and entrenchment of confidence.”

He also said it is the duty of INEC as the body on ground close to the electorate to carry out certain activities which is to interface with all the major stakeholders.

Israeli missiles have hit a site in Iran, ABC News reported late on Thursday, citing a U.S. official, while Iranian state media reported an explosion in the center of the country, days after Iran launched a retaliatory drone strike on Israel.

Reuters could not immediately confirm the reports.
Iran's Fars news agency said an explosion was heard at an airport in the central city of Isfahan but the cause was not immediately known. Iran suspended flights over the cities of Isfahan, Shiraz and Tehran, state media reported.

Several Iranian nuclear sites are located in Isfahan province, including Natanz, centerpiece of Iran’s uranium enrichment program.

Tehran's Imam Khomeini International Airport was closed to all flights until 0700 GMT, according to a notice to airmen posted on a U.S. Federal Aviation Administration database.
Some Emirates and Flydubai flights that were flying over Iran early on Friday made sudden sharp turns away from the airspace, according to flight paths shown on tracking website Flightradar24.

Israel had said it would retaliate, opens new tab against Iran's weekend attack, which involved hundreds of drones, opens new tab and missiles in retaliation for a suspected Israeli strike on its embassy compound in Syria. Most of the Iranian drones and missiles were downed before reaching Israeli territory.

Analysts and observers have been raising concerns about the risks of the Israel-Gaza war spreading into the rest of the region.

Iran told the United Nations Security Council on Thursday that Israel "must be compelled to stop any further military adventurism against our interests" as the U.N. secretary-general warned that the Middle East was in a "moment of maximum peril."

Kampion is a new Netflix horror movie addition. This one has a runtime of just 1 hour and 31 minutes and is from the Philippines. If you’ve watched anything Phillipine, you’ll know that their speaking language is chockful of English and Spanish words.

For this horror movie, the plot unravels very slowly. And I do mean very slowly. Fortunately, we do get horror moments here and there from the beginning, but it also has a story that takes its sweet time getting there.

As in many good horror movies, Kampon does open with a bang. A brutal scene where a woman dies and then appears to be resurrected. Well, sort of. She certainly isn’t what you would describe as dead any longer.

Then there’s a jump to a completely different place and time, where we meet a childless couple named Clark and Eileen. One rainy night, after 8 years of marriage and struggling to become parents, a little girl comes knocking on their door.

The little girl claims that she is Clark’s child and that her mother sent her to him.

Kampon, Eileen

While this is a very unexpected situation, it’s also a strangely welcomed one for Clark’s wife. She accepts the child into their home and can finally be a mother. Even if it’s only as a temporary foster situation until a paternity test can reveal if Clark is actually her father,.

Clark, on the other hand, is not crazy about the situation. To be fair, he does also tend to get more of the creepy child situations. And as cute and sweet as the little girl Jade is, she can also say the strangest things. And do quite a lot of weird things.

Admittedly, I couldn’t help but giggle at the title of Kampon combined with how Eileen seems to accept strange events to continue being a mother. I found myself hearing the hit song “Come on, Eileen” and then it became “Kampon, Eileen”.

The ending of Kampon on Netflix

The Kampon ending isn’t a simple one. While Eileen’s relationship with the child, Jade, is odd and eerie, the ending is even more so. It will probably leave many viewers scratching their heads.

As a hint for the ending of Kampon, I can say that you need to pay attention to the constant flashbacks Clark has from his time as a police officer. Before he retired, he had a very odd experience with a human that did not seem human at all.

Not long thereafter, he met Jade’s mom and had a one-night stand. These two things are very much connected, and that’s all I’ll say to avoid any further Kampon spoilers.

Watch Kampon on Netflix now!

Kampon was directed by King Palisoc, who also wrote the screenplay with Dodo Dayao. I can’t help but feel this movie had the potential to be better, but it would’ve required both some rewriting and tighter editing. The good story is there, but it is not told in the best way. For me, anyway.

I was not crazy about this horror movie, but I do enjoy the whole creepy child vibe. Also, there are some scary moments and a very eerie vibe throughout. It’s too slow for me, and there’s too much wasted time on things that aren’t important for the horror plot.

Also, while the production is gorgeous, there are a few CGI moments that I could’ve done without. I will, however, say that the young Erin Espirity was as amazing as little Jade. Also, Derek Ramsey and Beauty Gonzalez were very believable as Clark and Eileen, respectively.

Kampon is on Netflix starting April 18, 2024.

‘No regrets’ – Guardiola explains why Real Madrid eliminated Man City from competition.

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has explained why Real Madrid eliminated his team from the UEFA Champions League quarter-final stage.

Guardiola watched as Real Madrid defeated Man City through penalty shoot-out on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium.

The Champions League quarter-final second leg tie had ended in a 1-1 draw, thanks to goals from Rodrygo and Kevin De Bruyne.

Both teams played a 3-3 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu last week.

Speaking at his post-match interview after the game, Guardiola said that Madrid defeated his team because the Spanish La Liga leaders defended deeper than previous seasons.

According to the Spaniard, City did not convert the chances they had against the visitors, adding that his team gave their best but it was not good enough.

“Congratulations to Real Madrid – they defended so deep with incredible solidarity,” Guardiola said.

“We did everything. I don’t have any regrets about what we have done.

“Always as managers we try to create more and concede less in every single game because that helps to win. We did everything, defensively and offensively.

“They made a good goal. There were two, three, four transitions but it is normal at that level with the quality they have.

“We played exceptionally in all departments. Unfortunately, we could not win. It is what it is.”

“Two years ago we won 4-3, we played outstanding and last season as well,” Guardiola added.

“They defended deeper than previous seasons and we created the chances to do it but football is about scoring goals. They did it better than us.

The way we played, we should have done it before. We did not convert the chances we had and we defended the transition really well.

“Everyone was at a high level. To beat Real Madrid, we had to perform our best. We were our best but it was not enough.”
