Stephen Hackett was the first to notice this strange noise and brought the issue to public notice. Hackett revealed that after calling AppleCare, support staff decided to offer a replacement unit. Other buyers have since made complaints too. In the past, it has also been reported that some previous iPhone models have experienced similar issues. It’s unknown how widespread the current situation is, or which exact components may be responsible. Last year, Apple had serious issues with the Iphone 6s and 6s Plus, popularly known now to the world as #BendGate. If this hissing sound now referred to as #HissingGate is common, it could likely show as a defect with the first batch of iphone 7 and 7plus shipped – for which Apple would have to offer a number of free replacements. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were only launched on Friday.
