This is because major gas stations in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, continue to see long lines. Ogo-Oluwa, Oke-Fia, the Old Garage (Freedom Park), the Lameco-Service neighborhood, and the Ayetoro neighborhood are the most affected areas of Osogbo. This is in response to private vehicle owners' complaints that working long hours at gas stations reduced their productivity. Many of them, who work in the state civil service, said that by the time they got the product, they would have wasted several hours and had to put off work that needed to be done until the next day. Hakeem Fashola, a civil servant, told DAILY POST on Wednesday morning that he had been going to the same gas station but couldn't fill up his car. “On a particular day, I had to call it quits in order to avoid having a mental breakdown after waiting in line for three hours. He stated, "The situation is so pitiful and something needed to be done urgently." Esther Fakunade urged the agencies in charge of regulating the supply of petroleum products from upstream to downstream to intervene to prevent unforeseen events. “At first, we assumed that this was a tradition associated with New Year's Day and Christmas, as is common in this country, but the issue has continued unresolved. Worst of all, government agencies would recite figures and statistics while doing nothing on the ground. Nigerians are unsure of the exact cause of the current fuel shortage. Is the upcoming election causing hoarding, celebrations, or just artificial scarcity? She stated, "We don't know, and nobody appears to be taking." Even though Lasisi Abegunde claimed that the majority of gas stations had fuel on hand, she was disappointed that the government task forces and security agencies charged with monitoring these gas stations had relaxed their duties. She lamented, "Worse is that these queues appear during the morning rush hour and in the evenings." It is possible to recall that the Department of State Services (DSS) issued an ultimatum to the petroleum marketers and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited in December 2022, at the beginning of the country's fuel shortage, to make Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) available.
