At least 25 people have been injured and 20 cars badly damaged in Kano following a clash between the officials of Kano State Road Transport Agency (KAROTA) and commercial drivers.
The incident occurred at Ado Bayero Bridge in Kano metropolis when a combine team of mobile police and KAROTA officials stormed the place in their efforts to disperse some youths that are operating illegal Motor Park under the bridge.
Confirming the incident to Daily Trust, chairman of the motor park, Najeeb Wurno, said several other private cars were damaged by the KAROTA while passing by.
He said government did not give them any notice prior to yesterday’s raid, noting that “at least we should be given a notice if government did not want to see us operating here.”
