Angry mobs have lynched a tricycle rider in Minna , Niger State Capital, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle in the town's Tunga district.

It was noticed that the victim was clearly known as stealing Bashir in the Tunga area of the city where he went to drop a passenger.

Eyewitness report to DAILY POST that angry motorcycle riders chased the deceased from Tunga to his house in Dusten Kura Gwari, a suburb of the town, after stealing the motorbike.

He was said to have been killed in front of his house without being given a chance to explain anything.

However, one of his neighbors, identified as Abubakar, refuted the claim, telling our reporter that no motorcycle could have been stolen by the deceased.

He said that, without committing a crime, Bashir was murdered in cold blood, and was accused by his killers.

We saw no motorcycle on his tricycle, nor was he allowed to justify himself until he was lynched to death by his pursuers. When this happened to him, Bashir left the home, as he normally does every day, looking for his daily bread. It is so disheartening and sad. Another neighbor, Idris Umar, said, "Everyone in the region knows Bashir as a good boy and he still goes by himself."

With no record of poor character, I have never met him. Umar noted that it is unfortunate that, before he was murdered, he was not able to give his side of the story.

"I don't know what actually happened.

We just learned that he stole a motorcycle from those who killed him, but we didn't see the motorcycle that he stole. The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP, confirmed the development. Wasiu Abiodun said a distress call was received from a mob action against an unknown person.

"The police patrol team was mobilized to the scene in the Dutsen-Kura gwari area of Minna on seeing the patrol car, and the mob took its heels and abandoned the victim."

He clarified that the deceased had been rushed immediately to Minna General Hospital, where he had been confirmed dead.

The preliminary investigation found that the dead man was guilty of motorcycle theft. Further investigation into the incident, meanwhile, is underway with a view to arresting the suspects.

The command then warned the public members to refrain from any act of jungle justice as the Command would not condone approaches to justice for self-help.
