Posted by: Miss Ifeoluwa« on: September 08, 2017, 05:12:13 AM »Another bus carrying 18 passengers have been hijacked in Rivers State few weeks after a similar incident occurred along the Ndele-Rumuji axis of the East-West road in Emohua Local Government area of the state. This time, gunmen suspected to be armed robbers attacked a commercial bus owned by Rivers Mass Transport Company travelling from Port Harcourt to Owerri, around Isiokpo-Elele Owerri express way. DAILY POST gathered that the bus with 18 passengers onboard, including the driver and conductor was intercepted and diverted into bush by armed criminals. One of the drivers plying the route, Martins Aluziwe, who claimed to have escaped the attack, narrated his experience after they had loaded their bus in Port Harcourt. Aluziwe who spoke on telephone interview with DAILY POST noted that soldiers had moved into the forest to ensure the rescue of the abducted travelers. According to him, “we were heading for Owerri this morning; on getting to Omagwa, I met a co-driver who was also traveling to Owerri. When we got to Isiokpo, towards the bridge leading to Elele, armed robbers attacked us. “I escaped because I was at the front; they only shot at my car but could not get anybody inside the vehicle; the bus behind us was attacked and everybody including the driver were abducted.” When contacted, the spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni said the command was yet to be briefed on the incident.
