Ahemd Satomi, yesterday said seven people died while 14 pick-up vans loaded with food items worth millions of naira were burnt when multiple explosions went off in Maiduguri city on Thursday night in an attack by Boko Haram. Satomi told Daily Trust at the scene of one of the blasts at Dalti Muna in Jere Maiduguri yesterday that eight members of the Civilian JTF were injured near the Muna Garage motor park. A member of the Civilian JTF on patrol at Gylimari village on the outskirts of Maiduguri said the insurgents came with two suicide bombers and exchanged gun fire with soldiers for 45 minutes in a failed attempted overrun the Muna IDP camp. “It was about 10:20pm on Thursday night suddenly we heard loud explosions followed by a gun battle that lasted till around 11:30pm in an attempt to infiltrate Maiduguri around the newly constructed Customs House where IDPs from Mafa LGA are being camped, but they were stopped by the military and members of the Civilian JTF who engaged them in a gun battle that lasted more than an hour,” he said.
