Goods worth millions of naira destroyed as fire razes Atakumosa market in Osun.
Fire on Tuesday razed part of Atakumosa Central Market, Adeti, Ilesha a ccnd destroyed goods and properties worth millions of naira.
Several shops located at the entrance of the market were affected by the fire outbreak which started early Tuesday morning around 1am.
According to the Administrative Officer of Osun State Fire Service, Fatai Aremu, the fire service responded early to the fire outbreak but barriers at the entrance of the affected shops did not allow the firemen access.
However, the fire was later put out through the combined efforts of the police and firemen.
It was gathered that the Policemen from that state Police Command were deployed to the scene of the inferno to prevent looting.
Aremu said the damage caused by the fire incident was severe, as he claimed that the cause of the incident had not been ascertained.
The command spokesperson, Folasade Odoro, told our correspondent that
No life was lost in the incident but goods and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.
The cause of the fire has not yet been known.
