The unfortunate incident occurred on her way to the court in the Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State on Monday morning, January 9, 2023, around the Ugoneki axis. Two days earlier, gunmen attacked the train station in Igueben and kidnapped 32 people waiting for a train to Warri, Delta State. On Monday afternoon, the abduction was confirmed in a statement by Festus Osagie Usiobaifo, the Publicity Secretary of the Benin branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). He wrote, "His Honour, Mrs. Precious Aigbonoga, President of Igueben Area Customary Court, was kidnapped this morning around Ugoneki axis, on her way to Court in Igueben L.G.A. Her Honour is the wife of our Colleague, Mr. Afebu Aigbonoga." "The Chairman of the Lion Bar, Chief Nosa Francis Edo-Osagie, is deeply saddened by this news and strongly condemns these bandits' worrying lack of compassion in kidnapping Mrs. Precious Aigbonoga; a judicial officer who is patient, easygoing, and diligent. "In the meantime, the Dream Team keeps in close contact with C.P. Mohammed Adamu Dankwara, the Police Commissioner. Amen! His Honour will be saved without injury and the criminals will be brought to justice by God's grace. Please keep His majesty in our prayers.
