12-year-old Junior Secondary School pupil in form 1 of the Lekki British International School, Lagos, has been expelled for allegedly putting acid in his classmate’s water bottle.

According to PUNCH Metro , the 12-year-old was jealous of his 11-year-old female classmate, for beating him to first position in the first and second terms.

The incident occurred around 1.30pm on Wednesday, June 14 at a time when the school was preparing for the third term promotional examination.

The 12-year-old pupil allegedly sneaked into the school’s laboratory and stole acid and ethanol which he mixed and poured into the 11-year-old’s water bottle.

Unfortunately, he was reportedly caught in the act by two other pupils who reported the incident to the school management.

Planned elimination

It was learnt that he agreed to have committed the crime, adding that he’d been hatching the plan for sometime.

On Wednesday, an infuriated member of the 11-year-old’s family said that despite the culprit’s confession, the school still allowed him to sit for the third term examination.

However, PUNCH correspondence who contacted the school learnt from a female official that the pupil had been expelled.

“The boy has been expelled with immediate effect. The girl is in school and she is fine. We have zero tolerance for such misbehaviour,” she said.
