Police sources said the deceased was trying to fix a rod underneath a faulty vehicle to be towed when another vehicle hit the faulty car from behind. “The incident happened last Wednesday and the man died at the hospital on Saturday,” the source said. The source explained that the owner of the vehicle had taken it to a mechanic for repair at Wuse 2 but the vehicle developed another fault on Kubwa Expressway where the mechanic had taken it for ‘testing.’ “The owner then sent his brother to go with another vehicle to tow the faulty vehicle,” the source said adding that the man was trying to fix the rod to the vehicle when the accident happened. The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, confirmed the incident, adding that the mechanic could not be found after the accident. He said the two persons inside the vehicle that hit the parked faulty car are still receiving treatment at the Kubwa General Hospital. “The driver in the third car was carrying his wife and she sustained a fracture while the man had injuries. The deceased was taken to Kogi State for burial,” he said. “We are looking for the mechanic, he ran away after the accident and investigation is still on,” he said. DAILYTRUST
