Following a fuel tanker accident at the Otto Wharf Bus Stop on the Mile 2 axis of the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos, one person passed away and another was rescued by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

Margaret Adeseye, director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the incident.

Adeseye claims that the incident was reported at 4:02 a.m. on Sunday.

While negotiating its way through barriers erected by toll collectors, a 45,000-liter diesel-laden tanker headed toward Oshodi from Apapa collided with a stationary towing van.

The Sari-Iganmu Fire Crew of the Agency prevented a fire outbreak and subsequent incident from occurring as a result of the accident.

“On the other hand, of the two male adults who were involved, one was rescued alive with varying degrees of injuries and was rushed to the hospital, whereas the other was found presumed to be dead.

Adeseye, the fire chief, stated, "The evacuation of the remains of the tanker and towing van is continuing with any atom of further danger completely avoided to bring the operations to a logical conclusion."
