on: January 14, 2023, 08:39:15 AM

In the early hours of Saturday, the Araromi spare parts market in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, was destroyed by fire.

According to Daily Post, the market is one of the major markets in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

It was estimated that forty-five (45) shops were impacted by the fire, which started around 2 a.m.

DAILY POST was informed of the incident by the Oyo State Fire Service.

Rev. Canon Yemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of the State Fire Service, told DAILY POST on Saturday that men from the command were able to put out the fire around 5 a.m.

“Our men are at Araromi Market Agodi Gate since 2:30 a.m. where they are putting out the fire caused by indiscriminate refuse burning,” Akinyinka stated in a telephone conversation with Daily Post.

“A cooling down operation is ongoing to suppress reignition. The fire was put out at 5:00 a.m. I'm on my way to an immediate evaluation.

Because it is an emergency, I cannot specify the number of shops at this time. It began late at night. About 45 stores

According to the Daily Post, the incident occurs a few weeks after a tanker in Ibadan lost control and caught fire.
