Mr. Joe Ejiofor, Deputy Registrar of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), reports that the ND1 Marketing student who attempted suicide is alive and well-treated.

Ejiofor, who is also in charge of YABATECH's public relations, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday that the college administration, which included Mr. Tunji Balogun, the Dean of Students, and Ag Rector Uduak Inyang-Udoh, visited her and confirmed her state.

According to Ejiofor, despite the fact that the young girl had consumed a chemical that was thought to be sniper, she was quickly rescued on Wednesday when her roommate raised the alarm.

“This is to inform the college community and the general public that the widespread rumor that Destiny, the ND1 Marketing student who attempted suicide, has passed away is completely false.

She has been visited by college management, and we are able to confirm that she is alive and responding well to treatment. Her parents have also been contacted, and they are with her in the hospital.

He continued, "Her roommate raised an alarm when she saw her taking the substance, and she was quickly taken to the College Medical Centre where she was attended to and stabilized by the Medical Director, Dr. Tunde Nubi, and his team."

The Deputy Registrar who condemned the act expressed concern about the motives of such a young girl.

But I can tell you that the reason has nothing to do with the rumors that she was caught cheating on an exam or that her boyfriend cheated on her.

He added, "Suicide is a major public health concern in a campus environment like ours."

He claims that the college community as a whole is affected when a student commits suicide, in addition to the student's immediate family and friends.

Ejiofor elaborated, "As a responsible and responsive management, we try as much as possible to guard against such an evil act through a series of orientation programs organized for students during their studies."

He declared that suicide should never be considered an option for anyone, regardless of the circumstances.
