John Olowosaye, a serving Corps member at one of the private schools in Osogbo, has claimed that he paid Olalekan Oyeyemi, also referred to as Emir, to assist him in kidnapping and torturing a few people over a botched transaction.
As per citymirrornews , Olowosaye claims that Emir, an appointee of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, took N2.6 million from his victims.
He made the statement after he was paraded at the Police headquarters on Friday by the Public Relations Officer of Osun Police Command, SP Yemisi Opalola.
Olowsaye said, “I and some guys had a transaction, they were supposed to help me convert the dollar I sent to them to Naira, which will be the sum of 4.8m. After converting it, they refused to pay the money and someone told me that they knew of a person (Emir) who could help me collect it. So I contacted Emir.
After a month of not receiving any feedback from those guys, I came to Osun State to come and meet them, that was why I contacted Emir to help me collect the money.
“Emir and his guys went to Ede to where those guys were, on getting there, those guys were with some set of people, upon superiority, they handed over the guys to Emir. Emir brought those guys back to Osogbo and kept them for three days.
“He tortured them and they explained why they hadn’t sent the money. So, some people assured Emir, that they would pay, so they were released. I don’t even know about the whole scenario.
“They said they would be paying it little by little, by the 30th of September 2023, they came and said they wanted to pay up, the whole sum was 4.8m, so they paid 1m first. After a week, they paid 1.050m, in total, they paid 2.6m to Emir’s account. Emir only paid me 1m out of the money sent to his account.
“After the whole scenario last year, I texted the guys to remind them of my outstanding payment, but there was no response from Emir or those guys.
I just got deployed to Osun State for my service year, I started disturbing those guys for my payment but they sent cutlass to me through WhatsApp chat and told me to come to Ibadan to receive the payment, but they didn’t show up.
When I got back to Osogbo, I went to the police station to file a petition against those guys. I was looking for those guys and they were looking for me as well, so they told me to come to a place and I went, that was where the police arrested me”, he narrated.
Speaking on his arrest, Opalola said Olowosaye, allegedly conspired with Emir in the abduction of some people in Ede sometime in August 2023.
Opalola revealed that after abducting his victims, the perpetrators brought them to Balogun Area in Osogbo, where a ransom of N2.6 million was paid to Emir.
She added that Olowosaye was arrested after a police investigation uncovered him as one of the perpetrators.
