A Nigerian migrant who recently returned to the country has narrated what he passed through in Libya while seeking passage to Europe.

Over 250 Nigerians landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Wednesday.

They arrived a few hours after 144 of their compatriots voluntarily returned from the Maghreb nation. The returnees were said to have arrived aboard a Libyan Airlines aircraft at the Cargo Wing of the airport at about 1.30 a.m.

One of the returnees, identified as Omoburo, said he was in a Libyan detention camp for nine months.

According to her, he could not return home as he was engaged in several activities to survive.

“They used us to do all sort of things, to carry bombs, to carry ammunition, even to ‘pack’ dead bodies,” he told AFP.

Another returnee, Franklin, confessed that they went through hell in the Maghreb country.

“It’s good to be home, because I’ve been in hell in the land of Libya,” Franklin said. “I’ll start a new life in my country.”
