Two suspects in Nigeria have been arrested for allegedly defrauding a €14.7 million German business on a COVID-19 scale, Nigerian police said on Sunday.
Fifty-year-old Babatunde Adesanya and 41-year-old Akinpelu Hassan Abass were accused of cloning the ILBN Holdings BV, Holland corporate website for defrauding a representative of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Freiherr Fredrick Von Hahn.
“Discrete investigations by INTERPOL Nigeria revealed that the suspects and their Holland-based cohorts, one Eduardus Boomstra and Geradius Maulder specialised in identity theft, cyber-stalking, cloning of corporate websites amongst other cyber mischiefs to defraud unsuspecting members of the public across the world,” Nigerian police said in a statement.
