The federal government has issued a directive to reopen the country's Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education.

The regulatory agencies of tertiary institutions, such as the National Universities Commission ( NUC), the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) and the National Board of Technical Education (NBTE), have also guided the reopening of tertiary institutions.

According to DailyPost, Education Minister Mallam Adamu Adamu, who spoke at a press conference in Abuja, said the decision to reopen schools was a sequel to a study of the situation of COVID-19 in Nigeria, with a decrease in the number of infections.

Adamu said, "We have consulted extensively with industry stakeholders, including the Private Schools Association (NAPPS), Provosts of Colleges of Education, Rectors of Polytechnics, Vice-Chancellors of Universities, State Governors, Education Commissioners and Development Partners."

Adamu had also confirmed all unity schools will open by October 12.
