Big Sean has announced that following the release of his new album
Detroit 2 he plans to launch his own record label.
The rapper made the announcement via the # AskBigSean hashtag to promote the record, while doing a Q&A with fans on Twitter. When the user asked if he was still signed with Kanye West's G.O.O.D Music label (@Mikeeasay), Big Sean answered, "Yep! But after this album I am starting my own. Any artist u think I've got to sign? Time is ready!
While his intentions are obvious, it's hard to tell if Sean will stay on G.O.O.D. Music for his albums as his response on that front is unclear. The rapper has been signed with 'Ye since 2007, after meeting a local radio station's G.O.O.D. Music head honcho and spontaneously rapping some bars to him. It is interesting to note that Kanye doesn't contribute to Detroit 2 with any vocals or production (see full credits here)
Big Sean also answered several other questions, such as when we should expect streaming services from the original Detroit, his favorite songs on the LP and his song with J. Cole doesn't get over in time. Detroit 2 aims to transfer 125k copies in the first week and debut behind Tekashi 6ix9ine.
