It came at the point where Joe Biden was initially trailing Donald Trump in the voting count. Last month, the rapper posted a short video to her account showing her puffing simultaneously on three cigarettes. She captioned the film, "How these elections made me watch these states turn red." Although the post was innocuous, it was met with some social media backlash, of course. Cardi is on Billboard's cover of the "Woman of the Year" issue where she discusses the controversial message. I had fun with my boy, but then I kept looking at Instagram and I got jittery about it. [Before the election], I just felt like this was in the bag for Biden. Then Election Day came, and I see there are so many states that are all red, period,' Cardi said of the night of the election. “It just surprises you when you don’t hear people around you saying, ‘Oh, I don’t support Trump.’ There’s other people that don’t really think like us. Millions of people who are not on the same page as you and don’t understand what he did wrong and why we’re so anxious. I’m like, ‘Oh, shit. I’m getting nervous now,'” she continued. Watch video
