Chadwick Boseman, star of Black Panther, dies at 43 after four year battle with cancer

Entertainer Chadwick Boseman has passed on at 43 in the wake of  battling colon cancer for four years, as per an announcement posted on his Twitter account.

"It is with boundless misery that we affirm the death of Chadwick Boseman," the announcement peruses. "It was an amazing honor to rejuvenate King T'Challa in Black Panther."

Boseman dealt with various movies and TV shows in the course of the most recent twenty years, including 42 where he depicted notorious baseball player Jackie Robinson, James Brown in Get on Up, and Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods, however he was most popular for his job as Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Boseman first took on the job as T'Challa in Marvel's 2016 film, Captain America: Civil War, before featuring in his own Black Panther film in 2018.

"Chadwick's passing is totally crushing," Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, said in an announcement to The Hollywood Reporter. "He was our T'Challa, our Black Panther, and our dear companion. Each time he stepped on set, he emanated mystique and bliss, and each time he showed up on screen, he made something genuinely permanent. He encapsulated a ton of astounding individuals in his work, and no one was better at rejuvenating extraordinary men. He was as brilliant and kind and amazing and solid as any individual he depicted. Presently he has his spot close by them as a symbol for the ages."

By March 2018, according to Forbes, Black Panther had been the 12th highest grossing film of all time, and the highest grossing film ever directed by a Black director (Ryan Coogler). Black Panther has been heralded as one of the first mainstream, large-budget superhero films to have a predominantly Black cast, with critics praising Boseman 's success. In the Black Panther sequel, expected in 2022, Boseman was scheduled to replace his role as King T'Challa.

"A true warrior, Chadwick has persevered through it all, giving you many of the movies you've grown to enjoy so much," reads the message. “From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.”

The statement posted on Boseman’s account noted that Boseman died with his “wife and family by his side.”
