“I say I’m lyrically maddin Lyrically unpsycho Lyrically enlighten you” this is a cut from the song (Lyrically) that marked a new dawn in the life of Keshniro Ololade as he began his sojourn as an artiste. Needless to say, Lyrically filtered into Olamide’s ears, next Lil Kesh was offered a recording deal with YBNL.
Undoubtedly, the journey has been quite amazing for Lil Kesh in his less-than-four years career as an artiste. Lil Kesh is among the elite few who have a monster hit in the very infant stage of their careers. Others have to keep hustling till the hit the mark much later in their career. Can you successfully break down Lil Kesh’s career without talking Shoki? No way! That’s is where the the most buzz was generated.
Another big moment was when Keshy lost out the title of the “Next Rated” to Reekado Banks. Nothing was ever the same again.
Fast-forward to the present, Lil Kesh has an album to his name. Plus, he is his own boss with YAGI, which was found after his contract with YBNL expired. Kesh may seem like his own boss now but he is still deeply affiliated to YBNL. And that is the problem. He has not severed that umbilical cord even after claiming independence. A baby doesn’t grow up to be a man with an umbilical cord still connected to his mother.
This case can be well exemplified with the ties Nigeria as an independent country shares with her colonial master, Britain. She is often referred to as independent, but in the real sense nothing about her shows maturity and growth after the much sought after independence. Exactly why Nigeria is where she is today, her president is currently abroad seeking medical care. Why??? But that one is another matter.
This explains YAGI, Lil Kesh, YBNL and Olamide. It’s about time Kesh stopped lurking behind Olamide’s shadows. It’s high time he became truly independent, something like Wizkid growing out successfully from EME and Banky W.
Something about being seen as a duplicate of Olamide may explain why Kesh has not had any form of endorsement like his “Next Rated” colleagues. The personal branding and image is not strong enough to draw in endorsement.
Keshy it’s time to find out your rhythm. It’s about time to switch up style from what we used to know you to be. Keshy it’s time to be really INDEPENDENT.
Yes, Lil Kesh has already begun the journey of being independent, he should forge ahead without looking back. Truth is, it not going to be easy breaking away from the old and trying new things. Nonetheless, it can will work out just fine.
Wishes of a major endorsement Kesh.
