Kenneth Petty, the husband of Nicki Minaj, is reportedly caught up in some legal trouble. The transplant from Beverly Hills was arrested earlier this month for failure to register in California as a sex offender.
Though L.A. County finally dropped the indictment, he continues to face federal charges for the same crime. He is banned from using the internet as part of his pretrial release terms, which he clearly wasn't pleased about. Petty has filed court papers urging a judge to lift the order, according to TMZ.
Prosecutors have already signed off on the request and now it’s up to a judge to provide the final decision. Petty pleaded not guilty for failing to register as a sex offender but still has a curfew in place. He’s also required to wear an ankle monitor until his court date next month and stay put in Southern California. He’s since registered as a sex offender in the state of California. Petty was convicted of first-degree attempted rape in 1995 when he was still a teenager.
