Real Madrid have confirmed they have reached an agreement
with Sergio Ramos over a new contract that will keep him at the
club until 2020.

The 29-year-old’s previous deal was due to expire in 2017 and
Manchester United were keeping a close eye on the defender’s
situation at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Ramos, however, has now decided to snub a potential move to
Old Trafford in favour of a prolonged stay with Madrid.

The centre-back will put pen to paper during a ceremony at the
Bernabeu’s honorary balcony at 13:30CET.
“An event will be held in the Santiago Bernabeu’s presidential
box to mark Sergio Ramos’ contract renewal,” a statement at
the club’s official website reads.

“Presiding over the event will be the Real Madrid president,
Florentino Perez, and the player himself, who will remain at the
club for the next five seasons.”

Sergio Ramos came through the ranks of the Sevilla youth
academy and joined Madrid in the summer of 2005.
He has since developed into a key player at Madrid, making well
over 400 official appearances in all competitions.
The Spain international has won three Liga titles with Madrid,
lifted the Champions League once, while also adding the Copa
del Rey to his trophy cabinet twice. Other silverware includes
the Club World Cup, Uefa Super Cup and the Supercopa de
Espana (twice).
