A teen girl committed suicide in the United States, which is a shocking development.

According to police, the girl threw herself off a luxury apartment building on the Upper East Side on Sunday afternoon, resulting in her death.

According to police, the 17-year-old girl made the jump from the eighth floor of 122 E. 82nd St. around 12:54 p.m. She was given the all-clear shortly thereafter.

The girl's identity was not revealed immediately.

StreetEasy.com reports that co-ops in the Manhattan building have recently sold for as much as $5 million. The prewar building, according to the real estate website, is nine stories tall.

One neighbor told The Post, "I was coming out of my apartment and there were three ambulances on the block." It is awful. It is absolutely terrible."

According to a doorman on the block, it was the second time in about six months that someone had died by jumping from a building.

The doorman commented, "It's just crazy."

According to the East Side Feed blog, on June 19, a 27-year-old man jumped to his death from 131 East 82nd Street, an apartment building across the street.

A 65-year-old woman fell or jumped from an East End Avenue and East 82nd Street building in September 2019 and survived.
