At least 63 people have been reported dead following a suicide attack at a government hospital in Pakistan.
The hospital, located in Quettain, in the violence-plagued southwestern province of Baluchistan, had been filled with over 100 people mourning a slain lawyer, Bilal Anwar Kasi.
Kasi had been shot and killed earlier in the day, and the crowd — made up of mostly lawyers and journalists — had been at the hospital’s emergency section accompanying his body.
“There are many wounded, so the death toll could rise,” provincial health minister Rehmat Saleh Baloch said. Many people were shown fleeing the hospital as debris and smoke emanated created a chaotic scene.
The attack is the latest in a number of recent attacks against lawyers, but no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks.
