Following several reports alleging that Sweden became the first country to recognise sex as a sport, the country has now categorically stated it to be false.
Anna Setzman, the spokesperson for the Swedish Sports Confederation, in a written statement said “It is false information with the aim of smearing Swedish sports and Sweden.”
“The Swedish Sports Confederation has drawn attention to the fact that in some parts of the international media, the news is currently being spread that a sex federation has become a member of the Swedish Sports Confederation,” She said.
According to the Swedish Sports Confederation, an individual who claimed to be a member of a sex federation applied for membership, but their application was rejected in May.
The man identified as Dragan Bratic was behind the whole drama.
According to a report, Bratic owns several strip clubs and wanted sex to be classified as a sport. He submitted an application to become a member of the confederation in January.
Setzman clarified that “There is no Sex Federation that is a member of the Swedish Sports Confederation.”
