Popular Ghanaian movie Director, Shirley Frimpong Manso, has advised women to slow down the rate of abortion.

She, however, expressed her opinion that the act of abortion is not evil but that youth, especially young girls must understand that the act is a choice.

The 39-year-old divorcee said while some developed nation may have legalized abortion, Africa is still seeing it as evil.

In a recent interview on Citi News Ghana, the best Director at the 6th Africa Movie Academy Awards, said it was the right time the sensitization on abortion increases.

She said, “The truth of the matter is if we make it into an evil thing, then everybody hides to do it. But when we talk about it and engage in some conversation about it, then when in that situation especially as a young girl, you will know what to so we are able to cut down on death through abortion by wack doctors.

“Abortion should be a choice like everything else although it might depend on the circumstances.

“It is not as simply as don’t allow abortion, you must look at all the angles,” Shirley added.
