There is, however, a big distance between her hopes and her mother — the father's absence. The Mexican film Netflix portrays a rebellious child and a family that hasn't come to terms with the loss of the father who died in an accident, surfacing a mother who is afraid to let her daughter endanger herself. In the other hand, you have a depressed, almost addicted actor who has lost a daughter himself — the film is attempting to magnetize into a tale in opposite worlds. Dad Wanted's whole intention is that it is intended to be heartfelt. The family film brings home the sadness surrounding such a tragedy, and the effect it can have on talented people. The story pits the unsuccessful actor and Blanca together — a self-made friendship between father and daughter born out of mutual interests. Dad Wanted spends so much time working on the family drama — it throws scenario after mother and daughter scenario questioning the same target because the film is trying to achieve an end goal. However, this deflates the experience, it can be forgiven somewhat for its emotional center which at least keeps the viewer engaged. ![]() The performances are satisfactory, bearing a few cheesy moments — Dad Wanted wants to give those moments of feeling good and fleeting whenever Blanca finds a slither of hope. The underlying plot point is that the mother's slowly coming to terms with her daughter's talents. Together that allows on-screen chemistry for sound. This is all right — it's nothing to yell about but it will promote the occasional smile and warm up your heart a little bit. This review of Netflix’s Dad Wanted contains no spoilers. The family film was released on the streaming service on September 11, 2020.
