The powerful notes of Mozart’s opus “Lagrimosa” not only signal the beginning of Gabriel’s Inferno (Part I), but they also usher in a new era for Passionflix. Sylvain Reynard’s beloved story about the trials and tribulations of family, forgiveness, redemption, love and sex comes to life in the film version of Gabriel’s Inferno, and thus begins one of the most faithful book adaptations ever created.
The reality is that you would be hardpressed to find a more faithful and dedicated film adaptation anywhere. The expression “the story comes to life” is particularly apt given that every detail — from dialogue to set design — has been meticulously and lovingly lifted from Reynard’s book by Tosca Musk and her talented Passionflix team.
At first glance, Gabriel’s Inferno might appear to be nothing more than a movie based on a book, created for yet another streaming service. That much is true, technically, but there’s so much more to it.
Over the years, Reynard had several opportunities to sell the movie rights to The Gabriel Series, but the mysterious author — whose true identity lies deeply shrouded in mystery — opted to wait for the perfect opportunity to come along and the decision paid off.
