At Yiaga Africa Initiative, we seek an exceptional candidate to join our Knowledge Management and Learning Department (KML) as a Monitoring and Evaluation Officer.

Background

Under the overall guidance and direct supervision of the Project Manager, the M&E Officer will be responsible for monitoring and ensuring high-quality and timely inputs and ensuring that the project maintains its strategic vision and that its activities achieve its intended outputs in a cost-effective and timely manner. The M&E Officer will be responsible for designing and implementing the M&E activities of the Project; assisting the Project Manager in preparing Quarterly/Annual reports on project progress and will, monitor the project activities regularly, developing and maintaining the MIS of the Project and will be responsible for the collection & analysis of different data about the project activities.

The position is for twelve (12) months, subject to renewal based on performance and funding availability. They are expected to work for 40 hours a week. The position has a competitive salary as obtainable in the industry.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Develop and facilitate project monitoring and evaluation systems at all organisational levels.
- Develop and review the logical project framework and recommend further improvement of the analytical framework.
- Monitor and evaluate overall progress on achievement of results.
- Oversee data collection, analysis, and reporting, ensuring that data is high-quality and audit worthy.
- Analyze lessons learnt for quality and accountability.
- Provide technical support/guidance to programs in monitoring methodologies, good practice and reporting responsibilities.
- Provide inputs, information and statistics for quarterly and annual and other reports to the management team.
- Identify and formulate monitoring and evaluation findings, lessons learned, and recommendations to be integrated.
- Effective implementations of monitoring and evaluation policies and strategies.
- Develop baseline data for each project component and all project indicators.
- Prepare and maintain the database.
- Report monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annually on all project activities to the project managers and Director of programs.
- Prepare issues to log and risk assessment for projects.
- Organize and conduct training on monitoring and evaluation for the project.
- Perform other duties as required by the line manager.

Education:
University Degree preferably in Business Administration, Economics or related field.

Experience:

At least five years of experience designing and implementing M&E/MIS in development projects implemented by national/international NGOs/Governments.
Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis and production of reports;
Proven ICT skills, especially in the development of MIS software using database software;
Expertise in analysing data using statistical software;
Necessary training & facilitation skills.

Language Requirements:

Fluency in written and spoken English.
