‘The Roads Not Taken’ Trailer: Javier Bardem & Elle Fanning Star In Sally Potter’s Upcoming Berlin Drama

The choices we make in our lives, all matter from mundane to earth-shattering. And a man struggles to hold on to his health in the new film, "The Roads Not Taken," as he obsesses with the lives he might have lived if he made other choices.

As seen in the trailer for the film, “The Road Not Taken” follows the relationship between a father and his daughter as she desperately searches for answers about what makes her parent seem mentally ill. However, what we find out is that her father is finding himself lost in the visions and memories of alternate lives that he could have lived if he chose a different path.

The film stars Javier Bardem, Elle Fanning, Branka Katic, Milena Tscharntke, Laura Linney, and Salma Hayek. The film is written and directed by Sally Potter, who is one of the more acclaimed filmmakers working today. Her films have yet to receive the widespread mainstream success that they probably deserve, but readers will likely remember her as the filmmaker behind projects such as “Orlando,” “The Tango Lesson,” “The Man Who Cried,” and her most recent film, “The Party.”

“The Roads Not Taken” premieres at the upcoming Berlin Film Festival before arriving in theaters on March 13.

Here’s the synopsis:

Sally Potter’s THE ROADS NOT TAKEN follows a day in the life of Leo (Javier Bardem) and his daughter, Molly (Elle Fanning) as she grapples with the challenges of her father’s chaotic mind. As they weave their way through New York City, Leo’s journey takes on a hallucinatory quality as he floats through alternate lives he could have lived, leading Molly to wrestle with her own path as she considers her future.
