Actress Jordana Spiro (“Ozark,” “Blindspot“) is a name we should all keep an eye on in the upcoming months. Her turn as a director has brought huge praise for her debut “Night Comes On.” The film premiered at Sundance Film Festival to high praise and received distinguished recognition, receiving The Next Innovator Award.

The film stars Dominique Fishback and Tatum Marilyn Hall as two sisters on a journey that will change their lives. Its impact was resonant with critics praising the performances and direction. Spiro also co-wrote the film with Angelica Nwandu. Prior to her feature debut, Spiro wrote and directed the 2012 short, “Skin.”

Spiro received nominations for her short film at the AFI Film Festival and was awarded an honorable mention award at the SXSW Film Festival. The director/writer/actress has yet to announce any further projects. But with “Night Comes On” coming to the theaters soon, we won’t be surprised to see her name as he career takes full flight; on screen and behind the scenes.

NIGHT COMES ON is the powerful directorial debut from actress Jordana Spiro (Netflix’s Ozark) which had its world premiere at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival where it won the NEXT Innovator Award. The film is co-written by Angelica Nwandu, who is the founder of The Shade Room, and features breakthrough performances by two fast-rising stars, Dominique Fishback (HBO’s The Deuce) and newcomer Tatum Marilyn Hall.

NIGHT COMES ON follows Angel LaMere (Dominique Fishback) as she is released from juvenile detention on the eve of her 18th birthday. Haunted by her past, Angel embarks on a journey with her 10-year-old sister (Tatum Marilyn Hall) to avenge her mother’s death.

“Night Comes On” opens in the theaters in limited release (8 cities to start) as well as on digital/VOD on August 3.
