The Johnson family make a comeback for a sixth season of Blackish on September 24, 2019. The single-camera comedy has, over the last five seasons, garnered a fair amount of acclaim and praise for its treatment of issues surrounding race, police brutality and others.

The ABC series has proven time and again that it can portray hot issues without getting preachy and that it can pass commentary while also finding humor in life.

'Black-ish' follows the Johnsons, an upper-middle-class African American family, led by Anthony Anderson's Andre Johnson and Tracee Ellis Ross' Bow Johnson. It tells the story of their lives as they juggle several personal and socio-political issues. The series has received critical acclaim and over the last five seasons has received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for Outstanding comedy series and a TCA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Comedy.

Anderson plays the role of a wealthy advertising executive in Andre Johnson, who wishes to ensure that a balance of black culture is intertwined in his family's upbringing. The actor is known for his work on 'All About the Andersons', 'The Bernie Mac Show', 'K-Ville', 'The Shield' and for his role as NYPD Detective Kevin Bernard on 'Law & Order'.

Apart from her role of Dr. Bow Johnson on 'Black-ish', Tracee is perhaps best known for her role of Joan Clayton in the comedy series 'Girlfriends', a role for which she received two NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series.

For her role on 'Black-ish', Tracee earned three NAACP Image Awards and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress — Television Series Musical or Comedy along with two Critics' Choice Television Awards and three Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy series.
