However, if the fact that it's Turkish prevents you from giving it a try, you're missing out. In a new way, the title character is intriguing. She is both impenetrable and difficult to look away from. At the very least, for the audience! When she becomes involved in crime in a world where women still lack rights, she begins to take control of her own destiny. It wasn't so much on purpose as it was by chance. Then the entire snowball phenomenon starts to happen. In a big way! Burcu Biricik is brilliant in the title role I am not familiar with the actors in this Netflix series. Sure, I may have seen a few of them before, but it really doesn’t matter, because this story is all about Fatma. She’s portrayed by Burcu Biricik who I really can’t remember having seen before. Then again, she looks so very different in this series that I probably wouldn’t remember. Burcu Biricik carries the plot of this series in the most amazing way. She is clearly a woman on the edge, but she refuses to give up or give in. Mostly, this results in her having to deal with a lot of bad guys. Both the classic criminal “bad guy” and the average chauvinistic pig, who tries to have his way with her. Sexual violence is a theme, but Fatma has a past that enables her body to react even when her mind seems to freeze. And, oh yeah, there will be multiple death. Two people die within the first episode and episode 2 begins with a funeral for a third person. It’s difficult to explain exactly why Fatma works, but the story itself is very intense and Burcu Biricik brings the title character to life in the most fascinating (and sometimes unexpected) ways. Watch season 1 of Fatma on Netflix now! Özgür Önurme is the creator of Fatma and also directs some episodes of the series. According to his IMDb page, Özgür Önurme is debuting as a series creator with this Netflix production. A debut he should be extremely proud of in every way. For me, this is the kind of series that could so easily be remade in the US or maybe South Korea. Actually, it could be remade in any country because the story is so very universal. Fatma is both no one and every woman. She’s tired and exhausted by the world, she’s been forced to survive in, and now she’s trying to take charge. Well, sort of. The Fatma series consists of 6 episodes in this first season. Whether this will be a limited series or one that has multiple seasons is still unknown. Whatever any original plans might have been, we all know that they can change if the series is a hit. And it really deserves to be. Fatma is amazing, bold, different… and scary! Fatma is out on Netflix globally from April 27, 2021. Quote Details Get Fatma: Season 1 – Complete Episodes 1 - 6
