In “Room 104,” Bautista appears as a guest star, playing the character of a former pro wrestler called Raw Dog Avalanche who must confront trauma from his past during his motel stay.

HBO‘s acclaimed “Room 104” series will soon have no more vacancy. Created by Mark and Jay Duplass (HBO’s “Animals.” and “Togetherness”), the late-night, half-hour anthology series, which began back in 2017, is winding things down with a final season that begins in July.

Known for its versatility in genre and form—anthology series akin to Netflix’s “Black Mirror” and “The Twilight Zone” from CBS, “Room 104”— by its very premise, “Room 104” has given itself a lot of flexibility in the area of storytelling.

Instead of a “Twilight Zone,” each week’s cast enters the motel room in which some unique and often bizarre experience takes place. The genres encompassed to date have spanned such diverse angles as drama and comedy, fantasy, and science fiction. This season will feature a bunch of firsts: Room the show’s first episode executed in animation.

Offering new talent every week, “Room 104” has hosted a slew of familiar faces in the past such as Sarah Hay (2019’s “Extracurricular Activities”), Orlando Jones (“American Gods”), and Rainn Wilson from NBC’s “The Office.”

This season continues that trend featuring former SNL star Kevin Nealon, IJillian Bell, Susan Park, Gary Cole and wrestler-turned-actor/Marvel star Dave Bautista.

Bautista has become a familiar face in Hollywood blockbusters in recent years, his latest movie being “My Spy,” which is a mash-up of action and lighthearted comedy. Of course, his involvement in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his portrayal of Drax the Destroyer is one of his most beloved performances. Not to mention, he’s slated for the highly-anticipated “Dune” remake.

In “Room 104,” Bautista appears as a guest star, playing the character of a former pro wrestler called Raw Dog Avalanche who must confront trauma from his past during his motel stay.

Mark and Jay Duplass return as producers, and Mark branches out into directing and original musical performance while co-starring in the episode “The Murderer.” This final season of “Room 104” begins airing Friday, July 24, and will be viewable via HBO and HBO Max.
