‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’ Trailer
on: June 13, 2018, 12:30:58 AM

Amazon is attempting to make Jack Ryan cool again. After Harrison Ford made a couple successful films featuring the classic Tom Clancy character, Hollywood has been desperate to get a ‘Jack Ryan’ franchise off the ground. Ben Affleck failed. Chris Pine failed. And now, we have John Krasinski. Godspeed, good sir!

In the first trailer for the upcoming “Jack Ryan” series on Amazon, we’re introduced to the basics. Ryan, a simple analyst sitting behind a desk at the CIA, gets pulled in way over his head as the agency attempts to bring down some bad terrorist guy. Sounds pretty generic, and the footage doesn’t do a whole lot to show viewers why they should consider this series anything other than a “24” clone. However, you can’t deny that Krasinski is a charismatic guy, and coming off the success of “A Quiet Place,” maybe the stars have aligned and “Jack Ryan” will be a success.

Personally, it was fun watching this trailer and imagining this is an alternate universe sequel to “The Office,” which Krasinski famously starred in. Imagine a world where Jim Halpert graduated from paper sales to start his life as a CIA desk jockey, assuming the alias of Jack Ryan. I’d watch the hell out of that show. If Rainn Wilson doesn’t make an appearance, shame on Amazon!

Amazon is set to premiere “Jack Ryan” on their Prime Video service on August 31.

Here’s the synopsis:

Coming August 31 Jack Ryan, an up-and-coming CIA analyst, is thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time. He soon uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.
