However, after a doctor tells them that the possibility of biologically having a baby is almost impossible, the couple has to come to terms with that loss and the idea that the only option is likely to adopt. And as you might expect, entering into the idea of adoption opens up its own can of worms. Plus, there’s the problem that everywhere you go, people try to offer advice on what the couple should do. When you’re an adult and you’re happily married, the inevitable question gets brought up—when are you having kids? Well, in the new dramedy series, “Trying,” the answer is a bit more complicated than you’d assume. Basically, trying to have a baby isn’t as simple as just having sex with your spouse. The series stars Rafe Spall, Esther Smith, Imelda Staunton, Ophelia Lovibond, and Oliver Chris. “Trying” is written by Andy Wolton. “Trying” premieres on Apple TV+ on May 1. You can watch the trailer below. Here’s the synopsis: All Nikki (Esther Smith) and Jason (Rafe Spall) want is a baby—but it’s the one thing they just can’t have. How are they going to fill the next 50 years if they can’t start a family? They already went through The Sopranos in a weekend. After ruling out every other option, Nikki and Jason decide to adopt and are confronted by a world of bewildering new challenges. With their dysfunctional friends, screwball family, and chaotic lives, will the adoption panel agree that they’re ready to be parents?
