Of course last night's last Saturday Night Live of the year was one for the records (Dec. 21). Eddie Murphy, who helped keep the show going in the 1980s, welcomed some of his old friends and special guests for the first time in 35 years.
He revisited several of his beloved characters in the sketches that aired last night, including Buckwheat, Gumby, and Mr. Robinson.
Taking the Studio 8H stage of NBC, Murphy told the viewers of the SNL: "This is the final episode of 2019. But if you're black, because I left back in 1984, this is the first season.
“I have 10 kids now — 11 if you count Kevin Hart.” He added, “If you had told me 30 years ago that I would be this boring stay-at-home house dad and Bill Cosby would be in jail, even I would have took that bet.” Slipping into his Cosby impersonation, Murphy said, “Who is America’s Dad now?”
