Fans were startled to learn that the Chinese government, who is known for being quite strict about who they allow into the country, allowed Kanye to perform on their property. That, too, occurred in Hainan, an inconspicuous island province, rather than a major city. Speaking with CNBC, Michael Zhou of Jingjian, a China tourism consultancy, noted that the show is part of a larger attempt to open up the area to greater travel. "This is Hainan trying hard to forge its branding as an international destination," according to him. Ye sold nearly 42,000 tickets for an event featuring Ty Dolla $ign on Sunday. He formally confirmed the event late last month, after a previously scheduled Vultures show in Taiwan was cancelled. During the event, Kanye opted to perform a previously unreleased song purportedly titled 'Preacher Man'. Watch the footage below.
