Rafael Nadal Knocked Out By Juan Martin Del Potro – Argentina’s Juan Martin Del Potro has beaten Spain Rafael Nadal in the semi-final of the Men’s single tennis.
Nadal, who had already won the gold medal in the Men’s double tennis, was hoping for a second gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic games, but Del Potro was able to win 5-7, 6-4, 7-6 (5).
Del Potro, who won the bronze medal at the London Olympics, will face Britain’s Andy Murray in the final, and is already assured of a better medal than he got four years ago.
Murray had won the gold medal at the London Olympics, and could become the first tennis player ever to have 2 Olympic gold medals in the singles competition.
“It would mean a lot, obviously,” Murray said after beating fourth-seeded Kei Nishikori of Japan, 6-1, 6-4. “It’s obviously not an easy thing to do. That’s why it’s not been done before.”
