Even before you start checking out these renders, allegedly showing off the Apple iPhone 7, you need to grab the ol' salt shaker and take this story with a grain or two of salt. A website in China, belonging to a component supplier, is displaying renders of a phone that it claims to be the next iteration of Apple's iconic smartphone. The design shows 2.5D glass employed on the display, with metal sides.

The phone appears to be thinner than the current models, but it does contain a 3.5mm earphone jack on the bottom of the device. That could be a red flag when it comes to the authenticity of the images. As you probably know by now, there is some speculation that Apple plans on removing the earphone jack on the next iPhone model in order to help make the handset waterproof, and to free up some space for a larger battery. Reportedly, the Lightning port will be used for this feature.

One image shows the inside of the device with the A10 chip in place. Another shows the phone sitting on a wireless charging pad. The latest speculation calls for a 256GB storage option, and a larger 3100mAh battery inside.
