The Tecno Spark 5 Air comes in as a cheaper option to the Tecno Spark 5. Its quest to being a cheaper Android phone facilitates some trade-offs. With this, it safe to say the existence of the Spark 5 air is Tecno’s strategy to reach more customers, especially those with low budgets.

Design and Display

The design of the Tecno Spark 5 air is a clear cut of the Spark 5’s design with some alterations. These alterations are part of the factors tailored to make it cheaper than its more premium sibling.

The rear of this Android phone is home to a square camera casing housing triple cameras and a camera flash. You will also find a capacitive fingerprint sensor and the Tecno branding which indicates its a Tecno smartphone.

Upfront is a 7.0-inch display that appears to be the biggest to have come off the Tecno spark series. This display has a screen resolution of 720 x 1640 and a screen density of 256 PPI.

The Cameras

The cameras department here is one of the places you can quickly spot trade-offs. You have got a camera setup that does away with some of the features we saw on the standard spark 5.

The rear camera setup is home to a dual-cameras as opposed to the quad-camera setup we saw on its more premium sibling. These cameras include a 13MP primary camera and a QVGA camera.

This rear camera setup is capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps. You also get Panorama and HDR for photos.

Upfront is an 8MP single shooter, which is capable of 1080p videos at 30fps and also HDR photos.

Hardware and Software
What appears to be a  similar specs sheet, isn’t very similar. The presence of a quad-core processor on the Tecno spark 5 air instead of an Octa-core processor as we saw on its a more premium sibling, tells a lot on performance.

This mobile phone also comes packed with a 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage with SD support, and a non-removable 5000mAh Li-Po battery.

On the software side, we have the HIOS 6.0 user interface on top of the Go edition of the Android 10 operating system.

Connectivity

The Tecno Spark 5 Air features a 3.5mm jack and micro-USB 2.0 port. It also features Wifi and Bluetooth.

Internet connectivity on the Tecno Spark 5 Air is capped at 4G LTE, due to the absence of 5G support.

The price of the Tecno Spark 5 air was not known as at the time this article was written. However, it will be updated once the price is made known.

The Tecno spark 5 air was announced on May 5th, 2020, and is expected to go on sale later in May 2020.
