So, in case you're rocking an iPhone or an iPad, you are most certainly rocking an iCloud backup of your device. Anyone who has used an iPhone or an iPad for some time has certainly found out why this undoubtedly-handy feature, which backs up your settings, app data, pictures, videos, and more.

Still, if you migrate between different iOS devices and make new backups on each one, you will quickly find your available iCloud storage get eaten by your old backups. Normally, most people simply forget that they have old backups on their devices and wonder why their storage is running low.

In case you're experiencing such an issue, we will show you how to easily get rid of your unneeded backups and free some space. In case you don't have numerous backups around, let this serve as a PSA that will remind you to clean your backups on a regular basis. Without further ado, here's what you need to do in order to get rid of your older iOS backups.

How to get rid of old iCloud backups

1. Step #1
First things first, head to the venerable Settings menu. Once
inside, scroll down to the "iCloud" menu and tap on it.


2. Step #2
Once inside, look for the Storage tab, which is just below the "Set Up Family Sharing" one. Apart from showing you your available storage, this menu will allow you to manage your storage. To proceed, tap on it.


3. Step #3
As you can see the Storage menu provides you with insight on your total and available data. Tap on the "Manage Storage" option to proceed.



4. Step #4
At the top, you will see the amount of space you iCloud Photo Library is occupying, while right beneath it all of your backups will reside In our case, there are merely two, each taking up roughly 300MB of storage. You don't want to get rid of the current backup of your device (indicated by the "This iPhone" subtitle). We will delete the top one instead; to do so, simply tap on it to proceed.


5. Step #5
In this menu, tap on the "Delete Backup" option in order to get
rid of the backup in question.


6. Step #6
This is it, the undesirable backup is gone and have freed up some precious cloud storage that can be used in a better way in the future.
