Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has alleged that attempt to bring President Muhammadu Buhari back to Nigeria has ”flopped”.

President Buhari left the shores of Nigeria on 7 May for a follow-up medical vacation in London.

Before leaving the country, he wrote to the Senate to inform the lawmakers that he had handed over to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, in an acting capacity.

It was the second time in 2017 the Nigerian leader travelled to the UK for medical checkup. He had left the country for medical leave on 19 January, returning on 10 March.

Update on the president’s health has not been made public by the presidency, thereby creating room for speculations, especially from the major opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Frustrated attempt

Fani-Kayode, a PDP chieftain, one of the main critics of Buhari’s Government, tweeted on Friday night that the doctors handling the ailing President frustrated an attempt of the members of the President’s inner circle to bring him back to Nigeria.

”Attempt to bring @NGRPresident Buhari to Nigeria from London has flopped again as his doctors rule out his ability to function. O ma se o!”

Fani-Kayode’s allegation comes two days after Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state alleged that the president was on life support, adding that he should resign to avoid unnecessary tension.
