This was made known in a statement signed by the Zamfara State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Alhaji Muttaka Rini. According to the statement, the monarch passed away at the Usman Danfodio University Teaching hospital Sokoto after a protracted illness. He is survived by four wives 25 children and 62 grand children. Aliyu, 62, succeeded his father, late Alhaji Aliyu Yan doto in 1991. He will be buried in the palace at his hometown of Tsafe at 2pm on Wednesday. Governor Abdulaziz Yari has expressed sadness over the passing of the Emir. Ibrahim Dosara, the media adviser to the governor, described the death of the Emir as a great loss to the entire country as a whole, due to his sterling leadership qualities, humility, honesty and integrity. He condoled with the late Yantodo’s family, Emirate and people of Tsafe, and the Zamfara state Council of Chiefs.
